Product Description

    Details

One in four women report being pressured or forced into sex by someone they know or met as an acquaintance.. This crime is frequently under-reported, 90% of sexual assault victims who know their attackers, do not report the crime. This presentation display is designed to bring awareness to acquaintance rape, the importance of consent, date rape drugs and how you can help protect yourself and others from becoming a victim.

The display opens with an explanation of acquaintance or date rape is. That it is a sex crime committed when someone who knows the victim, even if they just met, uses any form of coercion - including drugs, alcohol, manipulation, violence or threats to force unwanted sexual contact.

The definition of consent is explained and common myths of "implied or assumed" consent are debunked. Consent must be verbal and explicit. Assuming a partners consent due to silence, kissing, clothing, being intoxicated, dating or past intimacy is not consent for sexual activity.

The display explores the dangers of date rape drugs, the look and affects that common date rape drugs (G.H.B., Rohypnol and Ketamine) have on an individual and how to recognize signs that you or a friend have been drugged.

Information on what to do if you have been raped, or believe you may have been sexually assaulted or drugged is included. The most important thing to remember is this is not your fault. Get help and report your rape.

Know how to protect yourself and others from a potential crime by following some safety guidelines. Not all crimes are preventable, but looking out for yourself and others around you is an important step in crime prevention. This presentation display gives great examples on how to take precautions when dating and in social situations where the potential for date rape drugs or acquaintance rape is a risk.
