Description
This pamphlet points out that while social or relational aggression is harder to detect and control than physical bullying, it is every bit as cruel. Moreover, it’s long term harm is just as great. Social aggression is like hitting with feelings. It’s sometimes hard to see, but it causes harm just like hitting or kicking. This addition to the “In The Know: At Risk” series addresses the most common form of bullying among girls. Which is attacking others through their social relationships with gossip, exclusion, making mean faces and slander.
The pamphlet examines the growing ease with which relational aggressors can broadcast their venom through the Internet, Instant Messaging, e-mail and blogging. Along with the possibility that the electronic paper trail created by these media may provide a means of tracking down aggressors. The pamphlet offers sound advice on how to respond effectively to social aggression. Also, how to help a friend who is being victimized.
