Description
This easy to read Cyberbullying Presentation Card offers suggestions and useful information that will help your audience to better identify and deal with instances of online bullying.
It begins by defining cyberbullying as using technology to bully someone. The bullying can involve name calling or harassment. It can happen on the Internet, social media or through text messages. The only thing that differentiates cyberbullying from traditional bullying is the medium. Otherwise, they’re both just as hurtful and they both have terrible consequences.
Frequently, cyberbullies don’t believe that they’re doing anything wrong. They may think that they are being funny. Or, they may be seeking attention, revenge, or peer acceptance. They will use social media sites, email, and instant messaging for bullying.
Forms of Cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying can take many forms. It can include taking or sending unflattering or sexually suggestive photos by text or over the Internet. Or to spread rumors or send threatening and hurtful messages. Bullies may also send hundreds or thousands of text messages to their victims. They may post mean or threatening messages on social media sites. Also, they may create fake online profiles to hurt others. Cyberbullies may even go so far as to steal account information to take over others’ social media sites, bank accounts, or online games.
The handout address the steps that victims of cyberbullying should take. Victims should ignore it, record it, and report it. These steps may help to end the bullying either because the bully stopped getting attention due to his or her actions .Parents or teachers can also intervene in the situation. It’s important for victims to remember that they shouldn’t bully back. It won’t fix anything.
Cyberbullies are urged to stop and those who have been bullied are urged to tell a trusted adult about what they’re experiencing. No one deserves to be bullied, but everyone can rise above bullying.
