Smoking & Your Body

___

Smoking Has Devastating Health Consequences

Smoking negatively impacts almost every part of the human body. Tobacco smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, including hundreds that are toxic and about 70 that can cause cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, tobacco use is the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States.

When you smoke, the toxins from cigarette smoke enter your blood. These toxins make your blood thicker, and increase chances of clot formation, increase your blood pressure and heart rate, making the heart work harder, and reducing the amount of oxygen rich blood circulating to your organs. Smoking raises your risk of having a stroke and destroys your lungs.

Help save lives by working to snuff out tobacco use!
