Description
Readers learn from this concise, two sided Hepatitis Rack Card that there are three strains of hepatitis — A, B and C. Hepatitis causes liver disease, particularly Type A, and is very widespread. Readers are warned that all hepatitis strains are spread by contact with infected blood, saliva or semen. It spreads through all forms of sex and the sharing of drug or tattoo needles, razors or toothbrushes. The disease can also be spread by traveling in places with unclean conditions provide opportunities for infection.
The card also includes hepatitis symptoms. Readers are advised that, while hepatitis can be treated, any liver damage it has done is permanent. Prevention strategies include avoiding all sexual contact, restricting sex to one uninfected partner, using a condom, avoiding needle sharing and not eating foods that look uncooked or unclean. To learn more about these three diseases are referred to the “In the Know Zone” website and to the National STD hotline.
