Description

Frequently used by dentists and doctors in surgery, nitrous oxide has also found a following among those who use it to get high. This pamphlet provides a thorough look at just how damaging nitrous oxide can be.

It begins by explaining that nitrous oxide deprives your brain of oxygen, which may lead to brain damage with continued or excessive use. It’s usually inhaled from items like balloons, which may be obtained at social events like concerts, festivals, or parties.

Also known as Happy Gas or Whippets, nitrous oxide has a high risk for addiction. It causes feelings of relaxation and giddiness. It can also impair motor skills, which in turn, may lead to accidents due to falling or other accidents. Other short term effects include hallucinations and feelings of being disconnected from reality. With long-term use, nitrous oxide leads to vitamin deficiencies, mood disorders, paralysis, and death.

The pamphlet concludes by noting that the only safe hit of nitrous oxide is the one you don’t take. It also encourage readers to get help if they, or someone they know, is using nitrous oxide.
