Description
Educate your community about the dangers of vaporizing alcohol with this informative pamphlet. As the practice of vaporizing alcohol gains popularity, more young people are exposing themselves to the risks that come with it. Also known as “smoking” alcohol, this trend involves inhaling alcoholic fumes created through pressurization, chemical reaction, or heat. Unfortunately, most individuals are not aware of how dangerous vaporizing alcohol is. After reading this pamphlet, people will be armed with the knowledge they need to make smart and healthy choices.
High Risk – Alcohol Poisoning:
Inhaling alcohol vapors allows the alcohol to get into the bloodstream and the brain far more rapidly than by drinking alcohol. Because these fumes are not processed through the stomach or the liver, the alcohol entering the system is far more potent. When the stomach is not involved in metabolizing alcohol, the body’s key defense to alcohol poisoning (vomiting) is eliminated.
Readers are advised that because the intoxication that comes with inhaling alcohol vapors is rapid and intense, there is a higher risk for addiction and dependence. Those who choose to consume excessive amounts of alcohol through vaporization face the same risks as those who drink excessively. They may experience psychiatric problems, cancer, dementia, and cardiovascular diseases.
The myths about vaporizing alcohol have helped with its rising popularity. The pamphlet identifies and debunks all of these myths. People under 21 may believe that vaporizing alcohol is legal. But it’s still illegal for anyone under 21 to consume alcohol in any form. Another myth suggests that alcohol vapors have no calories. The truth is that people still absorb plenty of calories from these vapors. A more troubling belief is that inhaling alcohol vapors does not impair one’s ability to drive. Again, this is untrue. Through this practice, alcohol still enters the bloodstream and affects motor skills and judgment. After inhaling alcohol vapors, individuals are unable to safely operator motor vehicles.
