Description
This engaging pamphlet presents teenagers with a strong case for abstinence as the only sure way of avoiding sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s). Teens are at particular risk, accounting for fully one fourth of all new STD cases each year. Many sexually transmitted infections are asymptomatic. So a sexually active person might not have any idea that they are spreading a disease. In many cases, only a medical test can determine whether a potential partner is infected. Some infections are incurable and can last a lifetime. Condoms, though strongly recommended, are not a perfect preventive measure. Readers learn that waiting until committed to a lifetime mutually monogamous relationship before having sex and truly know your partner. That is a sure way to reduce the risk of venereal diseases. The brochure also provides survey of the most common STDs.
For further information, readers are referred to the “In the Know Zone” website and to the National STD hotline.
